The real name of Abhinav of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ is Jai Soni. Before working in this serial, Jai was seen in Star Plus TV serial ‘Sasural Genda Phool’. Very few people know that there was a time in Jai Soni’s life when he had to be dependent on pie-pie. Today he remembered the days of his struggle. He told that he did not come to Mumbai from Baroda to become an actor, but came to Mumbai to struggle to feed his family.
Had high fever, but for Rs 500….
Jai said in an interview to ETimes, “We lost everything my father had worked hard for. We left our home town and came to Mumbai. I was ready to do any work to feed my family. I was ready. I remember well, I got an offer to become a background artist. For this role, the makers promised to pay Rs 500 per day. But, on the very second day, I fell ill. High fever came. However, I reached to shoot for the sake of those Rs 500. There, the AC was very loud. I was shivering. I requested the production team to lower the AC. But, the actress opposed it. I somehow Completed the shoot and that’s how I got Rs 1,500 for three days.”
The director showed the way out
Jai further says, “It was not easy to make a mark in showbiz. Many times I got demotivated. Once I went to audition. By mistake someone gave me the script of the lead actor. When I had completed the rehearsal Then someone told that this is the script of the lead actor. I told him that now that I have rehearsed, can I audition for the lead actor? Then the director said, after seeing his looks and clothes, I will never I wouldn’t even make it a lead and they showed me the way out the door. I remember being very disappointed after the incident.”

Concluding his talk, Jai said, “Even after this incident, I kept working. I kept working hard. I had to feed the family. I had no other choice. Most recently, I met the same director, He was appreciating my work. I feel success is the best revenge. I am happy and grateful that I have reached this stage.”
