WPL 2023 Delhi Capitals started the tournament with a win by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 60 runs in the first match of the Women’s Premier League on the basis of half-centuries by captain Meg Lanning (72) and Shefali Verma (84). Delhi Capitals maintained their hold on the match from the very beginning. Batting first, the Delhi team gave a target of 224 runs to RCB on the basis of the explosive batting of captain Meg Lanning and Shefali Verma.
Chasing the target, the RCB team was reduced to 163 runs and lost their first match. Lanning and Shefali got the Delhi team off to a great start in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both made a historic partnership of 162 runs for the first wicket in just 14.3 overs.
