It was used in the assassination of Atiq-Ashraf
This is the same Ziga pistol that the shooters used to kill mafia don Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. That is, this pistol is becoming more famous among the gangsters of Delhi. However, in the last few years, the police had seized such pistols from several places. In November 2020, Northeast Delhi gangster Hashim Baba was also caught with this Ziga pistol. Subsequently, in the year 2021 and 2022, such pistols were seized several times. As of April 2021, 5 shooters belonging to Lawrence Bishnoi, Gogi, Kala Jathedi gangs were also caught with 2 such imported Ziga pistols.

A status symbol for gangsters
A source in the team that arrested Gogi said, “Using such weapons has become a status symbol for crime syndicates these days.” It not only elevates their status, they believe, but also creates a false sense of being very powerful and connected. At one point Gogi was so fond of this pistol that he asked his friends to keep the money they received from recovery to get this weapon. An officer of the Special Cell said that only top gangsters can afford this pistol. Because, it costs between 4 to 7 lakhs. While in the black market, gangsters are ready to pay 10 to 12 lakh rupees for this.
This pistol never jams
While the crime branch officer said that this pistol is not just for show. Gangsters are very impressed with this weapon. Because, this pistol never jams, does not stop and on the contrary has the ability to fire 15 to 17 rounds at a time. Pakistan’s spy agency ISI illegally sends such pistols to India. Sometimes with drones and sometimes with drugs, such pistols are sent from the border of Punjab. The source said that sometimes these pistols were also sent via Nepal route. These pistols are then sold to gangsters in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan.
Zigana pistols banned in India
Ziga’s pistols have become a favorite of gangsters, an official said. Some gangsters then use American-made Taurus and Chinese Star pistols. It is also illegally trafficked on the same route. However, top gangsters use such pistols that too for special targets. While others still work with 7.62 mm pistols, made for everyday crimes in MP, UP or Bihar. Importantly, Turkish-made Ziga pistols are banned in India.
