Taliban becomes incendiary for General Bajwa, 51 percent increase in terrorist attacks in Pakistan

Islamabad: The number of terrorist incidents in Pakistan has increased by 51 percent since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August last year. This claim has been made in the report of a local think tank. The Islamic extremist group Taliban took control of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul last year without a retaliation as US troops prepared to withdraw.

This was a symbolic victory for the Taliban as the world superpower could not stop the Taliban from emerging even after two decades of bloodshed. The Pakistan Institute of Peace Studies (PIPS) released a report on the topic ‘Situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s policy response’, said the threat of a terrorist regime in Kabul to Pakistan has become clear as the country has experienced terrorist attacks in the past one year. has seen an unexpected increase of 51 per cent.

An atmosphere of fear and panic among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
According to the PIPS report, between August 15, 2021 and August 14, 2022, there were 250 terrorist attacks in Pakistan in which 433 people died and 719 people were injured. The think tank said in its report that in recent months there has been an atmosphere of fear and panic among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to the news of withdrawal of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists from Afghanistan. What is even more worrying is that the movement of terrorists has been seen in key places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Peshawar, Swat, Dir and Tank indicating that it is expanding.

The report said that recently the police in the Lower Dir district had issued an advisory to the local people asking them to make arrangements for their security in view of the prevailing circumstances. The police had advised the locals not to travel unnecessarily and to carry licensed weapons.
