India defeated Australia by five wickets in the first ODI on the basis of KL Rahul’s unbeaten innings of 75 runs. This innings of Rahul at Wankhede Stadium has silenced his critics.
At one time Venkatesh Prasad faced a flood of criticism. Just weeks after being dropped from the Test team and losing his vice-captaincy role, Rahul scored a brave and unbeaten 75 to give India an opening victory in a low-scoring thriller.
After this innings of KL Rahul, his father-in-law and Bollywood superstar Suniel Shetty has targeted veteran cricketer Venkatesh Prasad. Prasad was the first to question Rahul’s place in the Indian Test team. He had made several tweets during the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. He also reprimanded the selectors, BCCI and commentators. He also mentioned Rahul’s previous record in his tweet.

After such criticism of Rahul, former cricketer Akash Chopra came to his rescue and had a long debate with Venkatesh. Rahul lost his vice-captaincy when the BCCI announced the squads for the third and fourth Tests against Australia and was subsequently dropped from the playing XI. On Friday, Rahul returned to the Indian team in ODIs and led the team to victory.
