Spain: Visa denied to 21 Indian wrestlers, head coach demands Spain to be fined News & Features Network

Spain: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has expressed displeasure over the loss of visas to 21 Indian wrestlers. Actually, the Under-23 Wrestling Championship is going to be organized in Spain. A 30-member team has been selected for this.

Spain granted visas to only 9 Indian wrestlers. At the same time, the visas of 21 people have been canceled. Responding to this, Khattar said that this is a serious issue. They will share it with the Ministry of External Affairs.

Angry over the cancellation of visas by Spain, head coach and Dronacharya awardee Mahavir Prasad has condemned Spain. Talking to news agency ANI, he has called on the Indian government to impose fines and sanctions on Spain. He said that it is a matter of shame for any country to take such a step. During this, he recalled India’s imposition of sanctions on Pakistan and the statement issued by UWW. He said that after imposing sanctions on Pakistan, whether the organization which has told India truthfully now bans Spain or not, it is on the eyes of all of us.

WFI has also given its response on the visa issue. Speaking to the media, Assistant Vinod Tomar said, India had never faced such a situation before. He said that Spain has refused to grant visa ignoring the sanction letter issued by the Indian government and the invitation letter to World Wrestling.

He said, on what basis Spain has taken such decisions, it is incomprehensible. He said that 9 WFI head coaches had also applied for visas, but only 6 of them have been granted visas.
