According to the last financial year, the number of donkeys in Pakistan has increased from 5.6 million to 5.7 million.

It was not only about taking the donkeys into custody, the Assistant Commissioner has also ordered the Forest Department to produce the donkeys in the court. According to the news of Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune, the interesting thing is that the donkeys were very intelligent as they used to smuggle the girls on their own and transport them from one place to another. Earlier in September, a forest department employee was arrested for smuggling wood, which has now been suspended.

More than 80 lakh rural households are engaged in animal husbandry and get about 35-40 per cent of their income from this sector.

Donkeys are an important source of income in Pakistan and also contribute to GDP. China is also interested in importing Pakistani donkeys. Donkey skin is widely used in China. Gelatin extracted from donkey skin is used to make many expensive medicines. Pakistan also earns its income by selling donkeys. According to the news, Pakistan gets 18 to 20 thousand rupees for a donkey.
