Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo has resigned from his post. His tenure was till after the 2023 World Cup, but he took this decision after the defeat from India. Domingo joined the Bangladesh team in September 2019 after Steve Rhodes was removed as head coach. Under the coaching of Russell Domingo, the Bangladesh team lost 2-0 in the Test series against India. Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Jalal Yunus has reacted to this.

Bangladesh Cricket Board chief of cricket Jalal Yunus told Cricbuzz, “Russell Domingo has tendered his resignation yesterday which has been accepted with immediate effect.” Under Russell Domingo’s tenure, Bangladesh won T20I series against Australia and New Zealand and New Zealand I won the first test. Apart from this, ODI series against South Africa and India were also won. At the same time, after losing the first Test against India by 188 runs, Bangladesh lost the second Test by three wickets. After which Domingo resigned without completing his term.
According to Cricbuzz, it was only after the Mirpur Test that Younis indicated a change that he was not happy with Domingo’s performance. He had said, ‘We need a coach who has an impact on the team. We will make changes soon. We have to build a strong team. We need mentors, not coaches.
