Qatar Gets Chinese Panda: China has given Qatar a very valuable gift just before the event of the FIFA World Cup. The host nation of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which runs from November 20 to December 18, has received two giant pandas as a gift from Beijing. He has reached Qatar on a special flight from China. With this, Qatar has now become the first Middle Eastern country to receive giant pandas, Suhail and Soraya. For them, a luxury air-conditioned quarter has been specially built in Qatar, where they will stay.
The panda pair is also accompanied by a team of experienced breeders and veterinarians who will help them settle into their new environment. “We have prepared steamed cornbread, bamboo shoots, carrots and other foods for the big panda,” said the breeder, Dong Lee.

Agreement between the two countries was signed in 2020
According to media reports, this is the first giant panda cooperation program between China and the Middle East. This has been implemented under a cooperation agreement signed between Beijing and Doha in May 2020. During Panda’s farewell ceremony, Doha’s ambassador to China, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Duhaimi, said the gift “marked the depth of the relationship between the two countries.”
Quarantine will have to be for 21 days
Let us tell you that the Chinese government has sent animals as a gift keeping in mind the World Cup starting from November 20. China has not qualified for this World Cup, but is a major customer of Qatar’s natural gas. Tim Bouts, zoological director of Al Khor Park, said Suhail, who weighs 130 kg (286 lb) and his female partner, who is 70 kg (154 lb), will undergo a 21-day quarantine.
