Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha reached Jantar Mantar to meet the protesting wrestlers. Here he also appealed to the protesting wrestlers to end the strike.
Before the meeting, PT Usha had termed this performance of wrestlers as indiscipline. PT Usha had said that ‘I believe that IOA has a committee and Athletes Commission for complaints of sexual harassment. Wrestlers should have come to us instead of going on the streets, but they did not come here to IOA. They are adamant that they will not end the strike until their demands are met. There should be some discipline. They have gone straight to the streets without coming to us, this is not good for the game.
Vinesh Phogat accused Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur of not taking any action and suppressing the matter by forming a committee. He said, ‘We ended our protest after talking to the Union Sports Minister (Anurag Thakur) and all the athletes had told him about the sexual harassment. But they tried to suppress the matter by forming a committee, no action was taken at that time.
