Pakistan Army’s command now in the hands of Aseem Munir, President Alvi approves the appointment of new Army Chief

Islamabad : Uncertainties regarding the appointment of the new army chief in Pakistan are now over. Pakistani President Arif Alvi on Thursday signing the Army Chief Summary, Lt. Approved the appointment of General Asim Munir. Now the command of the Pakistan Army will be in the hands of Aseem Munir. In addition take General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been appointed as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).

Speculation over the name of the new army chief came to an end on Thursday. The Government of Pakistan has made it clear that Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif has taken. General Munir has been selected for this important post. Munir will now replace General Bajwa in Pakistan. Pakistan’s Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb confirmed this on Twitter. He wrote that using his constitutional right, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif took General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been nominated to CJCSC.

Names decided in cabinet meeting
Shehbaz Sharif convened a cabinet meeting on Thursday to consider these high-profile appointments, according to Pakistani news website Geo TV. In the meeting, the allies authorized Shehbaz to choose the officers for the top slot. The decision was announced after the cabinet meeting. After Shehbaz Sharif’s decision, a summary of the new appointments was sent to the President’s Secretariat.

Meeting with Imran created uncertainties
Uncertainty arose over the President’s approval of key appointments after President Alvi left for Lahore to meet Imran Khan. All eyes were on the meeting as Imran Khan had said in an interview on Wednesday night that he and President Alvi would take “legal and constitutional” steps in the matter. Pakistan’s new army chief Munir was also Pakistan’s chief spy. Bajwa is due to retire on November 29 after a tenure of six years.
