Afwaah movie review: The story of the film begins with a political rally in Sambalpur, in which Vicky Singh (Sumit Vyas), an aspirant for a political career, attacks his rally with the help of his right-hand man and local goon Chandan (Sharib Hashmi). But it turns into a riot between the two communities. The entire incident gets recorded and sets the social media on fire, not Vicky’s but her future father-in-law Gyan Singh aka Hukum Singh’s reputation. National award winner Sudhir Mishra is known for popular and thought-provoking films like ‘Hazaro Khawahishe AC’, ‘Dharavi’, ‘Chameli’, ‘Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin’, ‘Yeh Sali Zindagi’. The first half of the film is a bit slow, but the story takes a turn in the second half. Presenting events in thriller style has been Sudhir Mishra’s specialty and that specialty is seen here as well. Along with fake news, the film also highlights issues like sexual harassment, communalism. The way fake news is trending on social media is a feeling of fear. The climax of the film looks promising. Cinematographer Mauricio Vidal has captured the night and the horrors of Rajasthan well. Sung by Rajasthani folk singer Mame Khan and Sunetra Banerjee, ‘Aaj Yeh Basant Mein Gehera Asar Hai’ sets the story in motion.
If we talk about the acting, all the actors in the film are superb. Nawaz wins hearts with his captivating role, while Bhumi excels in the character of Nivi and makes her memorable with her bold and rebellious style. Sharib Hashmi is looking good in the character of Chandan. He is steadily climbing the ranks as an actor. Viewers who are used to seeing Sumit Vyas in gentlemanly roles so far will see him in a ruthless, power-hungry character that will be remembered by the audience. T Bhanu has memorably lived the character of a sexually assaulted policewoman.
Why should you watch this movie? – To know the truth behind fake news, this movie Rumor must be watched.
