Hours after the rifle was allegedly snatched from a CRPF jawan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police brought back the youth with the help of his family. A senior police officer gave this information on Sunday.
Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that the snatched weapon has also been recovered.
Taking to Twitter, Kumar said, “Police with the help of family brought back Irfan Bashir Gani alias Soba Gani, aged around 25, from Pulwama along with an AK-47 rifle, which he had snatched from CRPF jawans this morning.”
He said that investigation is going on in the matter.
“We appreciate the role of the family,” Mr. Kumar said.

According to the police, Ghani had allegedly snatched an AK-47 service rifle from a CRPF jawan on duty in the low-lying area of Rajpora in South Kashmir district.
Soon after the incident, security forces launched an operation to recover weapons and nab the snatcher, he said.
