Labor Party leader Starmer vows to fight ‘Hinduphobia’

Keir Starmer: Keir Starmer, the leader of Britain’s opposition Labor Party, issued a big statement regarding Hinduphobia. He said that we should fight Hinduphobia. He made this statement in view of the India-Pakistan cricket match. Starmer said he was committed to ending divisive politics and extremist elements that spread hatred within communities.

Keir Starmer attended one of Europe’s biggest Navratri celebrations in London on Wednesday (October 5). Where he addressed a gathering of hundreds of British Indians. He was determined to end ‘divisive politics’. Some expatriate organizations in the UK have claimed that the disorder in Leicester last month reflects Hinduphobia, or hate crimes targeted at Hindus, that arose because of social media.

‘Hinduphobia has no place in society’

Keir Starmer said that Hinduphobia has no place anywhere in our society and we should all fight it together. He said that he is fully aware that some people are being targeted on the basis of religion. Also, there has been an increase in hate crimes over the years. He said he was tired of divisive politics.

‘Together we must end hatred’

He also condemned the division in the streets of Leicester and Birmingham in recent weeks. He said that we have to put an end to the violence and hatred spread by extremists who exploit social media. Everyone should stand firmly against this.

‘Need to defeat poverty, injustice and hatred’

He said that he is especially honored to be joining you in the Vijayadashami celebrations. The fire that burns the effigies of Ravana across the world is a reminder of the need to quell the evil that our society is facing. Poverty, injustice, hatred need to be defeated.
