Jharkhand girls hockey team won gold in Khelo India Youth Games held in Bhopal. In the final played on Friday, Jharkhand won by defeating Madhya Pradesh in the tie-breaker. Both the teams were tied at 1-1 till the stipulated time. For Jharkhand, Rajni Kerketta scored the goal in the 26th minute of the match. After this, the result of the match was extracted from the penalty shootout, in which Jharkhand defeated Madhya Pradesh by 4-3 goals.
Parvati Topno, Pramodini Lakda and Binima Dhan scored goals for Jharkhand. Earlier, Jharkhand entered the final by defeating Uttar Pradesh 2-1 in the quarter-finals and Odisha 3-1 in the semi-finals. Rajni Kerketta, Pramodani Boy, Neeru Kullu, Rashmi Horo, Nikki Kullu, Ankita Dungdung, Binima Dhan, Adeline Bage, Fulmani Bhengra, Celestina Horo, Sanjana Horo, Balo Horo, Nisha Minj, Sangeeta, Anupama Horo, Purnima in Jharkhand Girls Team Barva, Rajni Kerketta, Parvathy Topno are included.
Jharkhand is at 19th position in the points table of Khelo India Youth Games with a total of six medals including three gold, one silver and three bronze. Apart from the hockey team for Jharkhand, Asha Kiran Barla has won two gold in athletics.
Asha Kiran Barla has won gold in 1500 meters (4:43.50 minutes) and 800 meters (2:07.37 minutes). She is the first athlete from Jharkhand to win maximum two gold in Khelo India Youth Games. And the only silver has come in swimming. Rana Pratap won silver for Jharkhand in 200m breaststroke.
