List of India’s 500 Most Valuable Companies
Burgundy Pvt, the private banking business of Axis Bank, and Hurun India released their list of India’s 500 most valuable companies last week. While listed companies are ranked according to market capitalization, valuation is used for unlisted firms.
Here are five key facts from the report:

Serum Institute of India rose to prominence during the pandemic as India’s largest Covid-19 vaccine maker and is the most valuable unlisted company. The company increased its value by 20 percent to Rs 2.2 lakh crore in just one year.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is India’s most valuable company with a net worth of Rs 17.3 lakh crore. In second place is Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which is worth Rs 11.7 lakh. With a value of Rs 8.3 lakh crore, HDFC Bank is at the third position.

Chennai-based EID-Parry, a sugar and nutraceuticals firm, is the oldest company on the list, having been established in 1788. A listed company, it is valued at around Rs 11,000 crore.

GlobalBees, a D2C brand aggregator, which became a unicorn in December 2021, is the youngest company to make it to the list. The company, valued at Rs 9,100 crore, was founded in 2021 by Nitin Agarwal and Supam Maheshwari. With a valuation of Rs 50,000 crore, the fintech start-up is the most valuable ‘young’ company on the CRED list.

With 193 companies, Maharashtra has the highest number of companies in the 2022 Burgundy Pvt Hurun India 500 list. Karnataka is second with 63 companies and Tamil Nadu is third with 43 companies.
