Infosys chairman Ravi Kumar S resigns days ahead of second quarter earnings announcement

New Delhi:

IT services major Infosys on Tuesday said its chairman Ravi Kumar S has resigned from his post.

The company did not give any reason for the move, which comes days ahead of the announcement of its second quarter earnings.

“The Board of Directors extends its deep appreciation to Ravi Kumar S for the services rendered by him for his contribution to the company,” Infosys said in a regulatory filing.

In his role as Chairman, Ravi Kumar S led the Infosys Global Services Organization across all industry segments.

He led service lines and specialized digital sales across the consulting, technology, infrastructure, engineering and process verticals.

After starting his career as a nuclear scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, he joined Infosys in 2002 and was appointed as its chairman in 2016.

In 2017, he was named as the deputy COO and was widely tipped to be the company’s COO, but Infosys later stepped down from the post of COO following the retirement of UB Pravin Rao.

According to Infosys’ annual report for 2021-22, Kumar was the company’s third-highest-paid senior executive after CEO Salil Parekh and former COO UB Pravin Rao.

Shares of Infosys, which is due to announce its second quarter earnings on October 13, closed 2.65 per cent lower at Rs 1,423.90 on the BSE.

The company’s board will also consider the share buyback in its meeting to be held on October 13.
