Pakistan’s federal government had moved the Supreme Court last week to initiate contempt proceedings against Imran Khan’s party for violating a court order on May 25 regarding his party’s independence march. In the same petition, the government sought an order to restrain Khan from deteriorating the law and order situation through a planned demonstration march. A five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Omar Ata Bandiyal heard the petition. The Court has refused to pass any order regarding the planned demonstration. However, this performance has not happened yet.
