Sara Ali Khan, Vikrant Massey and Chitrangada Singh starrer ‘Gaslight’ has released on OTT platform. This is a thriller film released on March 31. Sara Ali Khan is playing the role of Misha in the film. Wheelchair-bound Misha returns to her palace Mayagarh in Morbi and discovers that her father is missing. Misha suspects that there is a difference behind her father’s disappearance. On the other hand, her stepmother feels that Misha is having various hallucinations.
Review
The film does not shed much light on Misha’s past. It is only shown that Misha had an accident in which she survived but could not stand on her feet and her mother committed suicide. In the film, Chitrangada Singh is playing the role of Sara Ali Khan i.e. Misha’s stepmother. When Misha comes back to the palace, he realizes that there are paranormal activities i.e. ghosts. Misha fears that her father has been killed. How deep is the secret of this royal family and will Misha be able to unravel it?
Technical aspect
Directed by Pawan Kripalani, this mystery film will take you through a cremation calm and interesting twists. The sound effect is very good in the film. Be it the sound of footsteps on the wooden floor or the creaking of the door, the sound of books being closed, pages being turned gives you a sense of dread. The dimly lit palace and its empty rooms create a different image. There is also an atmosphere of depression in the film. Most of the Indian thrillers feature noise but here you will see a calm atmosphere in contrast.
There is no breath in the climax
A haunted palace, a lonely girl, a cunning family and a buried secret….’Gaslight’ has all the elements that make a thriller interesting and to a large extent makes it successful. However, the film’s climax is disappointing, which kills the plot. The plot of the film is tight and the clues are connected one after the other but the mystery is not sustained by the time the climax arrives. After a while the story of the film seems illogical and the interest starts to wane. After a point you will know what the ending of the film will be.
Acting
Sara Ali Khan, who is usually seen in the role of a spirited girl, is seen here in the role of a slightly depressed girl. Which suits the character. Vikrant Messi’s character seems stereotypical. His character could have been written better. Chitrangada does justice to her character here. Rahul Dev and Akshay Oberoi have also done justice to the character.
Why watch?
There is a thrill in the film even though it ends up being a predictable film. If you love watching thriller movies then you can give ‘Gaslight’ a chance.
