Digital Desk, Paris. Felix Auger-Aliassime recorded another impressive win on Europe’s indoor tennis hard courts on Friday as he reached the Paris Masters semi-finals with a 6-1, 6-4 quarterfinal win against Frances Tiafoe here.
The eighth seed’s serve was good enough and quick to put Tiafoe behind and record her 16th consecutive Tour-level win. He hit 26 winners to 14 of Tiafoe’s and won 86 percent (31/36) behind his first serve to earn a Tour-leading 27th indoor win in 2022.
Auger-Aliassime reached the first set as Tiafoe, playing in his second Masters 1000 quarterfinal, struggled to play his best level. The Canadian struck with her heavy forehand and dropped just two points on serve in the opening set, and she went on to win nine of the first 11 games with an opening break in the second.
This will be the second Masters 1000 semifinal of Auger-Aliassime’s career, after reaching the last four in Miami in 2019. The 22-year-old’s late season exploits have already earned him a spot in the ATP Finals. It will be held in Turin from 13 to 20 November for the first time.
