The Government of India on Tuesday launched online gaming i.e. Esports By giving official recognition, it was included in the major sports disciplines of the country. Now their players can get facilities like normal sports. The International Olympic Committee is also promoting e-sports and in this exercise, the first Olympic e-sports week will be celebrated in Singapore in June next year.
The Indian Dota 2 team won the bronze medal by defeating New Zealand in the first Commonwealth E-Sports Championship held in Birmingham in August. Since the inclusion of e-sports as a demonstration sport in the Jakarta Asian Games 2018, there has been a growing demand to make it a part of the multi-sport event. At the same time, e-sports will debut in the Asian Games to be held in China next year.
E-Sports can also be called a kind of digital game, which we play through mobile, computer, tab or other electronics equipment. In this, multiplayer players can play together. Many e-sports games like football, cricket, rugby football are being organized.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has been appointed as the nodal ministry for the online gaming industry, while the Department of Sports has been made the nodal agency for e-sports. The Center has recently notified this arrangement by modifying the allocation of business rules.
