New Delhi: A day after the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Delhi Police on a plea seeking registration of an FIR against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Delhi Police said that it is investigating allegations of sexual harassment leveled by seven women wrestlers. There is a need for preliminary investigation before registering an FIR.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Delhi Police, told a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha that ‘if the apex court feels that an FIR has to be lodged directly, it can be done’.
