Bhopal: A friendly match of cricket was played in the newly constructed cricket stadium of Madhya Pradesh, but this match could not be completed. The match was ended on the spot after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was injured on a shot by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. While trying to catch Scindia’s shot, the ball hit the BJP worker on his head and he got hurt.
The worker has been identified as Vikas Mishra. Mishra tried to catch the ball hit by Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia but after missing the ball hit his forehead, causing a deep cut on his forehead. He was taken to the hospital where he received several stitches and is currently in a stable condition. Dheeraj Dwivedi, a local BJP functionary, told that the incident took place at the newly constructed Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Itaura.
After the inauguration of the stadium, a friendly match was being played there. The game was stopped soon after Vikas got injured and he was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Medical College Hospital. Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with former minister Rajendra Shukla and Rewa MP Janardan Mishra, went to meet him in the hospital.
Earlier on Wednesday, Jyotiraditya Scindia laid the foundation stone of an airport in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also present in that program. The airport is estimated to cost around Rs 240 crore.
