The BCCI has announced Team India for the third and fourth Test as well as the three-match ODI series against Australia on Sunday. India has defeated guest Australia in the first two Tests. There has been no change in the Indian team for the third and fourth tests. Jaydev Unadkatwho was released from the squad to take part in the Ranji Trophy final, is back in the squad for the remaining Tests. He has also been kept in the ODI team.
Jaydev Unadkat last played a 50-over match for India in 2013 against the West Indies. KL Rahul, who was named vice-captain for the first two Tests, was retained in the team despite disappointing performances with the bat in the first two Tests. However, he was not named vice-captain in the third and fourth Tests. No one has been named as the vice-captain for the third and fourth Tests.
The third Test will be played from March 1 to 5 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. While the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the fourth and final Test from 9 to 13 March. India’s captain Rohit Sharma will not play in the first ODI. In his absence, Hardik Pandya will take charge of the team. BCCI said in a statement that Rohit Sharma will not be available for the first ODI due to family commitments and Hardik Pandya will lead the team in the first ODI. Three ODIs will be played in Mumbai, Vizag and Chennai on March 17, 19 and 22 respectively.
