Former Mumbai police officer Sunil Mane said he wanted to plead his case as he had a law degree.

Former policeman Sunil Mane, accused in the recovery of an explosives-laden car outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence in Mumbai and subsequent murder of businessman Mansukh Hiran, on Tuesday withdrew his application from a special court to turn approver.
In January, Mane said in a handwritten application sent to the court that he had realized his mistake and that the court should consider his “excellent record” in his police career and “repent of his mistake” by granting him clemency in 2021. “You should be given a chance to do it. Case.
However, on Tuesday he told the special NIA (National Investigation Agency) court that he would not like to press for his plea to turn approver and withdraw it.
The court had then withdrawn his plea.
Later, Mane said he wanted to plead his case as he had a law degree, and the court allowed the request.
In a related development, authorities at Taloja Jail in Navi Mumbai complained to the court about misconduct by Sachin Vaze, the main accused in the case, who is also a former police officer.
He claimed that on April 23, Waje fainted in jail and started vomiting. When the prison authorities requested him to be admitted to the prison hospital, he refused to do so and insisted the doctors treat him inside the high security barracks.
Waje, however, refuted the claim saying that he never refused to be admitted and wanted to know why he was being transferred given his threat perception and unhygienic conditions in the prison hospital.
On February 25, 2021, an explosive-laden SUV was found near Ambani’s residence ‘Antilia’ in South Mumbai. Businessman Hiran, who was allegedly in possession of the SUV before it was stolen, was found dead in a drain in neighboring Thane on March 5, 2021.
Sacked police officer Waje is the prime accused in the case in which a few more cops are facing charges along with a few others.
