The deceased girl, Mamata Sharma, was a resident of Model Town in Malviya Nagar. On January 23 this year, her father Badri Narayan Sharma married his daughter Mamta to Anil Sharma. Everything was fine for a few days of the marriage but later the in-laws started harassing her for dowry. Badrinarayan Sharma alleged that Mamata’s in-laws used to torture her mentally as well as physically. Because of this, Mamata had an abortion at six months.
Alleged demand of Rs 15 lakh
Deceased Mamata’s husband Anil Sharma works in jewellery. Mamata’s father alleged that Anil was forcing Mamata to bring Rs 15 lakh. He was saying that he has incurred a debt of around 15 lakh rupees. He brought Rs 15 lakh from his colleagues to repay the loan. He was constantly tortured for not bringing money. Along with Mamata’s husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law and Nanand have also been made accused in the case registered at the Kho Nagorian police station. The entire incident has created a buzz in the surrounding area. At present, the local police have filed a case against the father-in-law on the basis of the father’s complaint and are conducting further investigation.
